Football Shirt Friday — show your support
Tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 4, Iceland will hold its first Football Shirt Friday — a day dedicated to showing support and solidarity with children with cancer and their families.
On Football Shirt Friday, people are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey as a simple way to raise awareness for the cause. The event has been observed in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway for many years.
We encourage all students to come to school and to practice wearing their favorite sports jersey on Friday, Sept. 4. It doesn't matter which team or sport you support — what matters is participating and showing solidarity.
Football Shirt Friday is organized by Styrktarfélag barna með krabbamein, a charity that supports children with cancer and their families in a wide range of ways.
On average, one child in Iceland is diagnosed with cancer every month. By wearing a jersey, we can all show our support in a simple but visible way — reminding children with cancer and their families that they are not facing this alone.
Get involved, put on your jersey, and show your solidarity! 💙
